In a contribution we are proposing example of teaching of basics of modeling in the secondary education. To achieve this target we are using modeling of the plants with the turtle geometry in programming environment. We familiarize pupils with the principles of turtle graphics that is known from the children’s programming language Logo. We use for creating of models of plants the programming environment Imagine as well as in the program Baltie. It is possible to use environment of other educational software, e.g. GeoGebra. The pupils learn how to use knowledge from subject mathematics, informatics and biology to modeling.
