Abstract | A method is described which can successfully be used in a classroom to
show that the so called paradox of the Cretan (Epimenides, the Cretan, declared: ”All
the Cretans are liars.”) is not a logical paradox in fact. When compared with the usual
short argument, the method needs some more time to get the result but seems to be more
appropriate for pupils aged 12–15. The method is said to be the method of admissible
situations. |
