The article deals with goals of physics education. Comes out from official European documents (DG Education and DG Research). Divides physics education to formal and informal. Points specific issues in Slovakia and presents two possible ways of progress. Suggested is new conception (new in Slovakia, present already in many other education systems) based on goals presented by organizations such as UNESCO, IBO, OECD, based on harmonious goals-oriented development of scientific literacy of pupils and students.
